Chocolate Banana Bread

Give old bananas a second chance by baking them into a chocolate banana bread!

We’re a nation of banana bread lovers, and lockdown has got us baking more loaves than ever before! If you’re a chocolate lover too then this sweet loaf is the perfect bake for you. Serve it warm with lashings of Sweet Freedom’s naturally sweetened chocolate spread for a lovely afternoon treat.

  • 0.5 0.5 large bananas
  • 41.666666666667 41.666666666667 g wholemeal flour
  • 16.666666666667 16.666666666667 ml almond milk
  • 13.333333333333 13.333333333333 ml rapeseed oil
  • 0.33333333333333 0.33333333333333 Tbsp ground chia seeds
  • 0.16666666666667 0.16666666666667 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 0.16666666666667 0.16666666666667 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 0.083333333333333 0.083333333333333 tsp baking powder
  • 0.083333333333333 0.083333333333333 tsp salt
  • 13.333333333333 13.333333333333 g Sweet Freedom Choc Pot

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 Fan / 200 F / Gas Mark 6.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl with a fork.
  3. Add the rapeseed oil, almond milk, vanilla and chia seeds and mix vigorously until well combined.
  4. Add in the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt and mix well.
  5. Finally, add the Sweet Freedom Choc Pot and mix until it is well dispersed throughout. Don’t mix it in completely as you still want to see some streaks, although if you do it will still taste great.
  6. Transfer to a lined loaf tin and bake for about an hour or until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean.
  7. Cool on a wire rack.
