Tofu Halloumi

Halloumi is unmistakable thanks to its distinctive salty taste and chewy texture, but store-bought vegan versions are still relatively hard to come by. If you’re missing the tastes and textures of halloumi then why not try making it yourself with this simple recipe for grilled vegan tofu halloumi.

  • 0.33333333333333 0.33333333333333 pack Naked Tofoo, cut into fingers (280g unseasoned firm tofu)
  • 0.66666666666667 0.66666666666667 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.66666666666667 0.66666666666667 tsp salt flakes
  • 1.3333333333333 1.3333333333333 Tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 0.33333333333333 0.33333333333333 Tbsp dried mint
  • 0.66666666666667 0.66666666666667 Tbsp olive oil
  • sprinkle of black pepper

Method

  1. Mix marinade ingredients

  2. Layout the tofu and rub a little marinade into both sides of each finger

  3. Place the tofu into the remaining marinade in a bowl, stir and leave to marinate for 30mins

  4. Heat your grill

  5. Grill for 8-10 mins until golden and slightly charred
