Where to eat
Elmira, Vorgartenstrasse 129-143
This little plant-based food and beverage bar is further towards the outskirts of Vienna. The staff are friendly and speak good English, and hand make almost all of the food (even the milks). Elmira sells salads, smoothies, juices, hummus, bagels, acai bowls, coffee and ice cream. It is open from Monday to Saturday.
Anker Brot, Stephansplatz
A fully vegan bakery – what better way to start a day in Vienna? Located in the Ubahn underground station, this outlet sells fresh pastries, bread, sandwiches, coffee and tea. Vegan versions of traditional Austrian pastries are sold at good prices, so you won’t miss out on traditional Austrian cuisine.

This vegan café specialises in vegan burgers, wraps, salads, sodas and desserts. The atmosphere is lively and cheerful. Swing music is played in the background. The food is well priced and the packaging is CO2-neutral and biodegradable, too. It is open from Monday to Sunday until 10pm.
Veggiezz Vegan Dining Room, Am Salzgriess 9
Treat yourself on your travels with some vegan fast food. Veggiezz owns several outlets across the city. They serve burgers, wraps, hot dogs, salads, quinottos and soups. Open every day (but with differing weekend hours), this venue is somewhat pricey but offers a wide and varied menu.

Simply Raw Bakery and Bistro, Drahtgasse 2
Find this great all-vegan venue just outside the bustling centre of Vienna. Unfortunately, as it is in the city centre, the food is not cheap. However, the place is cosy and the staff are welcoming, and fans of raw food will not be disappointed.
Vegetasia, Ungargasse 57
This restaurant serves all-vegan, Chinese buffet-style lunches and dinners. A mixture of cold and hot dishes are available, as well as soups and desserts. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday and an English menu is available upon request.
What to do
Veganmania Summer Festival
This three-day vegan summer festival has been running for 21 years and hosts 12,000 guests daily. It is the largest vegan summer festival in Europe and admission is free!
As part of the event, various stands will showcase and sell vegan food, drinks, fashion, accessories and cosmetics. Information stands will also be scattered throughout the festival grounds, providing tips on increasing environmental consciousness and reducing animal-cruelty. A DJ line-up will maintain a lively mood.
Belevedere Palace and Museum
Walk the breathtaking grounds of one of Europe’s most beautiful Baroque landmarks, or browse the spectacular collection of Austrian art within the palaces. This sightseeing must is a great example of Austrian architecture and culture.
St Stephen’s Cathedral
As Austria’s most prominent national symbol, this cathedral has a stunning tiled roof and a tower that is almost 500 feet high! Look out from the top of the tower for the best views of the whole city.
State Opera House
Austria has a particularly rich musical heritage. Vienna’s opera house is recognised internationally for its standard of performances, and with over 300 shows per year, you’re very likely to be able to catch one!
