Take a walk on the wild side on the Bear Necessities Trek Transylvania

Get ready for a pawsome trek…

Bear Necessities Trek Transylvania

Take a walk on the wild side on Dream Challenges’ Bear Necessities Trek Transylvania, an epic eight-day adventure in exclusive support of animal and wildlife charities! Open to all fitness levels, this trek through the forests, mountains and enchanting towns of Transylvania pushes you out of your comfort zone. We stay mostly in simple lodges and tents, so no frills or luxury – just the “bear necessities” and the adventure of a life-time!

From vampires to bears, this blood-pumping five-day trek starts in Sinaia, a fairy-tale like town in central Transylvania, whose stunning architecture and fir tree forests will give us a perfect introduction to central Romania. We’ll then follow clear trails through the Bucegi Mountains and are rewarded with views of valleys and limestone quays, all the way to Omu Peak, the highest peak of the Bucegi Mountains at 2,505m above sea level.

Descending to the beautiful town of Bran, we’re in for a treat as we visit Bran Castle (a.k.a. Dracula’s Castle!). Sitting atop a hill, towering over the village and trees with a mountain backdrop, this spooky fortress is so nick-named as it’s the only castle in Transylvania, which fits Bram Stocker’s description of Dracula’s castle: “. . . on the very edge of a terrific precipice . . . with occasionally a deep rift where there is a chasm [with] silver threads where the rivers wind in deep gorges through the forests.”  Get ready for a fright!

Our final day trekking takes us to the main ridge of Piatra Craiului Mountain and we’re rewarded the next day with an exclusive visit to a cruelty-free bear sanctuary, home to some gorgeous brown bears. We finish with a free afternoon in Brasov, where we can celebrate our success for thousands, if not millions, of animals around the world.

The best part of this challenge is that you can take it on in support of an animal or wildlife charity of your choice. Whether you choose to support a charity for pets, animal rights, or wildlife, by taking on this amazing challenge, you’ll be standing up for those without a voice and so fundraising for an invaluable cause. Our challenges have together raised over £50 million for over 150 different charities and it’s time to give something big back to the animal kingdom.
