Following on from Subway’s Vegan Sub in the UK this year, the popular sandwich chain is trialling a brand new vegan menu item – a vegan version of its popular Meatball Marinara sub.

Launching in its Manchester and Birmingham branches on October 30th, the Meatless Meatball Marinara is being trialled to test its popularity with the company planning to roll the new vegan sub out to all stores in early 2020.

According to a post on Instagram by @whatnaomieats, Subway is offering two types of vegan cheese as well as garlic aioli with the sub, with a 6″ sub costing £3.49.

Singing its praises, she wrote: ” I picked mine up at a Manchester branch and it was MORE than I expected – they had two types of vegan cheese (check my story) PLUS a vegan garlic aioli – 10000/10 would recommend to EVERYONE. A 6’ was £3.49 and it’s SO worth the money. the meatballs are really *meaty* and not obviously vegan – if you’re round the trial areas go pick one up ASAP!”

USA

Subway recently released a vegan version of its popular meatball marinara sub in 685 of its North American stores as part of a partnership with plant-based meat brand Beyond Meat.

The meatless meatball sub features Beyond Meat meatballs served on a Subway bread of choice with a selection of salads, although unlike its meaty counterpart it is not available with a dairy-free cheese so this must be omitted when ordering to ensure it is suitable for vegans.
