Christmas in August? It is thanks to Waitrose as the supermarket unveils its irresistible vegan Christmas range for 2023!

According to the retailer, searches for ‘plant based’ are on Waitrose.com up 115% compared to the same time last year. “We know our customers spread their festive celebrations across a number of weeks – it’s no longer just about the big Christmas Day lunch,” says Waitrose executive chef Martyn Lee. “Our team has worked hard to develop showstopper mains that tick all the boxes for every occasion.”

Highlights in Waitrose’s vegan christmas range for 2023 include a richly savoury Ultimate Triple Nut Roast made with sweet potato, lentils and chickpeas, and hand-finished with whole almonds, Brazil nuts and a glistening spiced clementine and apricot chutney glaze.

Additionally, the Fruity Stuffing Christmas Trees will add a touch of whimsy to your festive spread this Christmas.

According to Waitrose’s Vegan Product Developer, Simona Cohen-Vida-Welsh, the new Ultimate Triple Nut Roast is the perfect example of the “wonderful flavours and textures” in plant-based foods.

Speaking about the roast, she said: “You discover something new in every mouthful – sweetness from the sweet potato, wholesome lentils and chickpeas, the chutney inside which delivers a fruity flavour bomb, and then there’s an earthy crunch from the whole almond and Brazil nuts. It’s truly a feast for the eyes and stomach that everybody will love.”

So far, the retailer has not revealed whether any of the vegan options such as the No Pigs in Blankets from last year’s range will be joining the festive lineup this year.

However, in previous years Waitrose has offered up a wide range of options for vegans from party food nibbles to decadent desserts for the holiday season.

We’re hoping the Iced Fruit Cake with sweet vegan royal icing will be making a return in 2023 alongside the mince pies.
