Tesco supermarket is giving people more of what they want with a brand new festive vegan wrap launching in its Plant Chef range

Demand for plant-based Christmas sandwiches at Tesco is up 50% in 2019 and the supermarket is giving people more of what they want with a brand new festive vegan wrap.

The new addition to the range this year is the Tesco Plant Chef Root Veg & Chestnut Wrap (£2.75); a vegan festive-spiced wrap filled with roasted carrot and parsnip, sweet and buttery chestnuts, spiced red cabbage and cranberry sauce.

The wrap is now available to buy in-store alongside Wicked Kitchen’s Festive Feast Wrap which is back for another year after it first launched in 2019.

‘Increased desire for plant-based Christmas alternatives’

In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Tesco Product Developer, Stephanie Bacon said: “Last year, Tesco sold 4 million sandwiches to those looking for a festive meal at work, at home or on the move.

“This year the most popular sandwiches, Turkey and Trimming Sandwich and Turkey and Trimmings Wrap, have been joined by the brand-new Tesco Plant Chef Root Veg & Chestnut Wrap, which was developed as we continue to see an increased desire for plant-based Christmas alternatives.”

The supermarket shelves are set to be filled with vegan products this year! To make things easier, we’ve created a round-up of the best Christmas ranges to buy in UK supermarkets, showcasing the amazing mains, party food and desserts on offer in 2020.
