Pizza Hut is getting ready to launch vegan cheese to all of its outlets across the US.

Pizza Hut recently introduced a vegan pizza to its menu in 253 Pizza Hut Restaurants across the UK, which quickly became a permanent fixture on the menu after sales of the pizza doubled the target set by the company.

Following on from the successful launch of the vegan pizza, the high-street restaurant introduced a brand new dedicated vegan menu, including a delicious dessert.

Now the company has confirmed to the Vegan Herald that it’s almost ready to launch vegan cheese to all of its outlets across the US.

Speaking to the Vegan Herald, a spokesperson for the company said: “We have been testing the marketing when it comes to vegan cheese for quite some time, and we’re just about ready to make the leap!

“We plan to have vegan cheese available at all of our U.S. locations by the end of summer, most likely in August.”

The company has not clarified which brand of cheese it will be using to top its pizzas with, but the Vegan Herald speculates that it may opt to use popular Canadian brand Daiya as its a popular choice in American pizzerias. In the UK and Australia, Pizza Hut uses award-winning dairy-free brand Violife.

A representative for Pizza Hut said they have not yet confirmed the official release date, but it will “have an official announcement with a precise date in the very near future!”

UPDATE 30th April

Vegan media outlet VegNews has reported that Pizza Hut has denied claims that it will debut vegan cheese in the United States this summer.

According to a spokesperson for the company in a statement sent to VegNews: “While we’re proud of our dedicated vegan menu in the UK, the report is inaccurate and we have no plans at this time to carry vegan cheese at our US locations.”

The Vegan Herald told VegNews that the email exchange between itself and Pizza Hut may have been a prank, saying: “Unfortunately we believe we fell victim to a prank. We received an email from ‘Pizza Hut Media Relations’ which was signed off by ‘Michael Darvo, Pizza Hut Media Relations.’”
