LighterLife, a UK-based weight loss program based around portion control, has added two completely vegan options to the list of meals sent out to their clients.
In response to ‘almost daily’ requests for meals containing no animal products or derivatives of egg or dairy, the company will soon offer customers two entirely plant-based choices. The Fast Super Green Soup and the Banana Porridge will be available from August, signalling the beginning of a more inclusive menu.
The LighterLife program’s full plan supplies clients with all of their food through Foodpacks, and their less intensive program involves intermittent fasting. The new food options are ideal as part of the latter (known as the 5:2 diet) as they contain around 200 calories each, making up a substantial amount of the daily 600 calorie target.
As the recent additions will be the only vegan options on offer, the program does not yet offer an exclusively vegan diet. However, Rob Rona, Director of New Markets at LighterLife, said in a statement: ‘as a brand, we feel it’s important to cater for all lifestyle choices.’ This certainly suggests that the future looks bright for vegans looking to try the 5:2 plan.
