Rising actor Jenna Ortega says she stopped being vegan after landing the role of Wednesday Addams in the eponymous Netflix show Wednesday.

In a recent interview with Wired, the star answered the most popular Google searches about herself.

Is Jenna Ortega vegan?

When asked if she followed a vegan lifestyle, Ortega said: “I was vegan for a really long time but I stopped being vegan when I went to Romania to shoot Wednesday actually because the food is very different there.

“I don’t think I was meeting my nutritional requirements so I started eating fish again – so I’m currently pescatarian.”

In what appears to be a deleted tweet from 2020, the celeb allegedly wrote: “I’m vegetarian! But I stray from dairy as much as possible and if there’s a cruelty-free option available I’m all for it.”

Controversy

While many sympathised with the actor for having to change her dietary preferences due to the country’s ‘meat-centric’ culture – others questioned why plant-based catering wasn’t provided on set.

“How is it that Netflix couldn’t afford to provide Jenna Ortega vegan meals?” One Twitter user asked.

“Jenna Ortega stopped being vegan in Romania because she couldn’t meet her nutritional requirements here. Thank you for acknowledging our struggle,” another user commented.
