Waitrose is set to become the first UK supermarket to stock ultra-realistic vegan steaks that were previously only available online.
Juicy Marbles fillet steaks will enter the upmarket retailer’s stores as part of its Valentine’s Day Meal Deal this year.
Plant-based diners will be able to tuck into a three-course meal, as well as wine for £20 (a £15 saving on buying the items separately).
As well as the steaks, the meal deal offers a starter of Vegan Layered Mushroom Parfait, a side of PlantLiving Dauphinoise Potatoes and churros for dessert, as well as a bottle of Yalumba Galway Vintage Barossa Shiraz.
The steaks are raw and unseasoned, making them a versatile option for both cooking novices and pros, as they can be simply cooked as they are, or used to replace animal meat in dishes like Wellingtons, vegan roasts, broths and bowls.
Juicy Marbles fillet steaks
Juicy Marbles is best known for creating the world’s first vegan marbled steak, and the largest piece of plant muscle ever conceived.
Since its debut in 2021, the brand has been praised by both the food industry and consumers, with its products being ranked among the top 50 Food & Drink items of 2022 by Gear Patrol. Meanwhile, VegNews ranked them the #1 vegan item of 2022.
According to Juicy Marbles, its steaks are not ‘grown in a lab, 3D-printed or made with shady chemicals’.
It adds that they are ‘rich in micro and macronutrients, making them easy to include in a wholesome, diverse diet’.

Juicy Marbles in Waitrose
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Martyn Lee, head chef at Waitrose, said: “The first time I tried it I was sold – the texture of the Juicy Marbles steak is like nothing I have ever seen before from other plant-based alternatives.
“The thing that is really exciting about this product is when cooking you see the raw protein turn into a caramelised and juicy steak that looks like the real thing. Whether you are incorporating a holistic approach to your meals or not, you are absolutely going to want to try this.”
Luka Sinček, co-founder of Juicy Marbles, added: “Mr. Marbles will be pleased to see the introduction of Juicy Marbles’ steaks in Waitrose, one of the UK’s most respected supermarkets. We are also big fans of romance here in Marbles’ Surreal kitchen, so anything that has to do with celebrating love is our jam!”
Juicy Marbles fillet steaks will be available in 217 Waitrose stores from February 8-14, while stocks last.
