After months of speculation and waiting, the highly anticipated plant-based patty from Beyond Burger finally hit UK supermarket shelves in Tesco last month.

Keen to get in on the action, supermarkets such as Iceland have been releasing their own versions for hungry customers searching for meat-free options. Not wanting to be left behind, Waitrose supermarket has just added a brand new vegan burger to its extensive range of vegan products according to LiveKindly.

The new vegan quarter pounders called Move Over Meat Revolution Burgers are made from a blend of mushrooms, onions, and pea protein and contain an impressive 20 grams of protein.

Speaking earlier in the year, Chloe Graves, Chilled Vegan & Vegetarian Buyer at Waitrose & Partners, said the supermarket chain was on a mission to increase its range of vegan products, stating: With requests for more choice coming from our customers and partners, we could clearly see there was an appetite to have more vegetarian and vegan options in our shops,”

The new plant-based burgers are priced at £4 and are available in stores now.
