Waitrose has launched a dine-in vegan meal offer which costs just £9 for two mains, along with one side or a dessert.
The upmarket retailer has launched the meal deal in time for Veganuary, as well as amid the cost of living crisis.
Dining options for the deal, marketed as ‘Waitrose’s £9 Plant Based Night in’, come from Waitrose’s own-brand Plantliving range.
The deal, which will be available until April 11, marks Waitrose’s first vegan meal deal.
A spokesperson for the supermarket told The Grocer: “We knew that coming into the new year our customers would continue to look to us to provide them with exciting products to meet their evolving needs, and amidst the pressures of the rising cost of living, we’re ensuring that we’re meeting their expectations while still providing great value.”

Waitrose vegan options
Waitrose has been working hard to accommodate meat-free dining in recent years.
As well as being among the earliest retailers to launch a dedicated plant-based fridge section in stores, it has added many vegan products to its shelves in recent times.
In September 2021, it launched 24 plant-based products under its new Plantlife and GoVeggie labels.
Speaking at the time of the launch, Martyn Lee, Executive Chef at Waitrose, said: “We wanted to provide our customers with more choice when it came to incorporating a holistic approach to their meals.
“Making ‘meat free Monday’ or a flexitarian lifestyle even easier, these new ranges have inspired us to be more innovative.
“For example, by using pulses, we’ve been able to recreate a white sauce for products in the new Plantlife range such as Moussaka and Potato Dauphinoise which rivals any bechamel sauce we’ve tried!”
