An eatery known as the ‘world’s first vegan steakhouse’ has launched a new Summer menu boasting plant-based lamb dishes.
The Queen Inn in Cwmbran, which made headlines earlier this year when it revamped its menu to become 100 per meat-free, has partnered plant-based food company MOCK to create the new meals.
According to MOCK, its plant-based meats, which are non-GMO, Vegan society and Halal certified, cater to ‘the growing number of vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians hungry for tasty meat alternatives that deliver on taste, texture and versatility’.
Now, the vegan pub is offering three dishes with the plant-based MOCK Lamb Pieces – l*mb rogan josh with rice and/or chips; minted l*mb skewers salad bowls with potato salad, coleslaw, pickled red cabbage, quinoa; and minted l*mb skewers as a side or starter.

The Queen Inn collaboration
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, MOCK founder Harpreet Gill said: “We are delighted that a pioneering pub like The Queen Inn has put MOCK Lamb Pieces centre stage in its summer menu.
“I began my personal plant-based journey almost 30 years ago after recognising people need to change their eating habits to feed a growing global population and take care of the earth’s diminishing natural resources.
“I founded [MOCK] because I missed eating meat, especially the texture and way it absorbs spices and flavouring. I believe it’s imperative that we work together to deliver a different approach that achieves the much-needed food security for billions, with food that’s not just sustainable and healthy but is versatile, convenient and above all tastes good!
“As a team we’re constantly striving to ensure our products meet the high standards of both consumers and chefs, alongside pricing that’s comparable to animal meat and commercially sustainable, and as [pub owner] Ryan Edwards and his customers at the Queen Inn will confirm, MOCK Lamb Pieces do just that.”
