Vegan actor Natalie Portman has praised her Thor: Love and Thunder co-star for his 'thoughtful' act after he held off on eating meat before they filmed their kissing scene.

Natalie Portman has spoken about her co-star Chris Hemsworth’s respectful move ahead of their kissing scene in the new Thor: Love and Thunder movie.

According to the Oscar winner, Hemsworth took a break from eating meat before they filmed their on-screen kiss out of respect for her vegan diet.

Portman revealed the ‘thoughtful’ act during an interview with Roman Kemp on his Capital FM radio show.

“He’s really nice. The day we had a kiss scene he didn’t eat meat that morning because I’m vegan,” she divulged.

While Portman, who is a vegan of 14 years, is used to not consuming meat, she joked that it was not so easy for her co-star who eats “meat like every half hour” to bulk up for the superhero films.

Adding that she didn’t request that her co-star abstain from eating meat before their kiss, Portman said: “Like, that was so thoughtful. That’s not something I’m angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He’s just a very nice person.”

Her Thor: Love And Thunder co-star Tessa Thompson, who joined her on the show to promote the new movie, quipped that she “didn’t even know [Hemsworth] could go without eating meat.”

Thompson jokingly added, “He’s just like eating bison in the morning. That’s so sweet.”

Natalie Portman’s vegan diet for Thor: Love and Thunder

Natalie Portman is a long-term vegan who credits Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire for turning her vegan after they starred in the 2008 movie Brothers together.

Like Thor co-star Hemsworth, who reportedly eats eight meals a day to get in shape to portray the superhero, Portman also upped her protein intake to get a superhero physique.

Typically, Portman is asked to lose weight before starring in a movie, so expressed excitement at having the opportunity to focus on her fitness instead.

“Women are usually asked to get as small as possible; to almost disappear. To be asked to get as big as possible, eat as much as you can, lift as much as you can is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of request,” Natalie told Extra.

Portman received advice from both Hemsworth and Thompson to help her achieve her fitness goals.

“They were both really helpful in helping me understand like the nutrition aspect and also like the rehabilitation… doing the ice baths,” she explained.

To get in shape, Portman ate a plant-based diet rich in vegan protein with plenty of vegan protein shakes, lentils, and asparagus.

In fact, Thompson and Portman both consumed asparagus for every meal in order to lose water weight to allow their “muscles to pop.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is in cinemas now.

Natalie Portman is just one of many Hollywood celebrities who are proudly vegan.
