Amsterdam's famous Vegan Junk Food Bar is expanding internationally, with a new location in Barcelona, Spain.

Europe’s most crave-worthy vegan junk food spot is expanding once again, this time internationally. The chain, which has four locations in the Netherlands, already has national acclaim after winning two prizes at the Dutch Vegan Awards.

Originally just a small restaurant with a big mission, Vegan Junk Food Bar has certainly made a name for itself. After announcing its intentions for international expansion back in August, the time has finally come for the vegan business to take on the world.

The new Spanish location is in the vegan hotspot of Barcelona, which is visited by millions of tourists each year. Opening its doors yesterday, Vegan Junk Food Bar Barcelona is open every day of the week for lunch, dinner or takeaway.

Vegan Junk Food Bar said this expansion was a ‘logical consequence’ of high demand and franchise requests. We’re definitely demanding it to make its way over to the UK!

Vegan junk at its finest

Vegan Junk Food Bar is famous for its huge array of plant-based burgers, mac n cheese, waffle fries, and even sticky ribs. One of the highlights is the Notorious Sumo burger featuring a juicy beefless patty, a crunchy chick’n patty, cheddar, salad, jalapenos, and their signature VJFB sauce.

With some epic super-size portions, you definitely won’t be missing out or going hungry.

The chain also has a range of fruity vegan cocktails with some epic names. On the menu is the ‘Tipsy Unicorn’ coloured with blue curacao and fresh lemon juice, and the ‘Holy Dragon’ featuring fiery tequila and dragon fruit.

Vegan ice cream bar

Earlier this year, the junk food phenomenon also expanded into the dessert sphere, with their new ice cream bar, Buba Cream. Located at the front of their restaurant in Amsterdam East, the bar serves bold new flavours such as macha macha and purple limoncello.

Mixed with chewy tapioca, their ice creams feature ‘flashy toppings’ such as gummy bears, Oreos and tropical fruits. With so many bright colours, the ice creams are definitely Instagram-worthy!

I’m sure we aren’t the only ones frantically booking a holiday to Barcelona for next year!
