In 2018, the city of Los Angeles became the largest US city to ban the sale and manufacture of fur products. And now the city is getting set to play host to the first Vegan Fashion Week this February.
The vegan fashion event, which is taking place between February 1-4 is being organised by animal rights activist Emmanuelle Rienda, founder of LE FRENCHLAB.
Speaking to VegNews about the cruelty-free fashion event, Rienda said: “I want to ignite conversations and debates within the industry by educating, elevating, and drawing connections between our most important values: our respect for human life, animal rights, and the environment.”
To kick off the event, Rienda is planning to host a soirée at the Museum of Natural History of Los Angeles where Nobel Peace Prize laureate Robert Lempert will present a talk on the impact of fashion on the environment, which will be followed by a catwalk show showcasing the hottest vegan designers.
Between the 2-3rd February, guests at the event can head to California Market Center in LA’s Fashion District to discover exhibits, brands and designers. There will also be a chance to sample a selection of vegan foods from around the world, as well as being able to attend talks on topics covering everything from animal rights, social justice and circularity to technology and intersectionality.
