A brand new 100% vegan diner has opened in North Yard in Camden Market this April, serving up all your American fast food favourites, prepared fresh to order – Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner.

Menu

At Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner you’ll find the staple classics available under one roof – The Dirty Burger to The Dirty Dog (both served in vegan brioche), Mac’n’Cheeze to Rudy’s Reuben (a vegan pastrami grilled rye sandwich with all the trimmings – sauerkraut, cream cheeze, grilled onions and Russian dressing.)

There’ll also be a weekly changing menu of American comfort food specials, with the likes of Vegan Meatloaf, Philly Cheese Steak, Spicy Vegan Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheeze and Country Fried Chicken, Biscuits, Mash and Gravy making an appearance on the menu.

Where possible, ingredients will be locally sourced and the vegan bagels, buns and bread will be supplied by a London based bakery. All dishes will be made to order and served in environmentally friendly, recyclable or biodegradable packing.

Delicious experience

Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner is the brainchild of former primary school teacher, Ruth (Rudy) Mumma and vegan chef, Matthew Foster. Matthew, who is Head Chef at the diner, has gained a wealth of experience and expertise working across the food industry over the past 25 years, from fine dining to gastropub to street food cuisine, his dream has always been to create and serve diner style food. Not only is it the food he enjoys most, but, if done well, believes it can’t fail to provide comfort and make people smile.

Determined to create a concept that would teach the next generations about veganism and encourage them to give it a try, Ruth and Matthew thought what better way to engage your audience, than by making it a fun and delicious experience?

And so, Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner was born. The new venture combines Ruth’s teaching and first-hand knowledge of authentic diners in the US with Matthew’s kitchen skills and passion for vegan cuisine. In time, they plan to host workshops for all ages in the diner.

Speaking about their decision to open their diner in Camden Market, Ruth said:

“Camden Market has a hugely international appeal and constant flow of worldwide visitors, particularly as a London hotspot for school trips. We therefore felt it would be a prime location to bring our concept to life to the widest audience of children possible. The Market also already has an established vegan following and we’re excited to see what they think of our food. We’ll be welcoming their feedback and incorporating it into our weekly changing specials menu.”

Throughout Spring, evening dining will be limited to a monthly BYOB supper club, with plans to open for dinner reservations from Summer 2018. Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner is also dog-friendly and welcomes well behaved canine companions.

Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner joins the ever growing and diverse selection of vegan dining options available daily at Camden Market. Visitors to the historic market will find vegan eateries like V Burger, a vegan fast food burger bar serving up delicious, accessible plant-based burgers, Club Mexicana, who specialise in creating vegan Mexican-themed food and Crosstown Doughnuts.
