Following its successful US launch, Boursin is releasing its long-awaited vegan cheese spread in the UK.

Boursin’s vegan Garlic & Herbs cheese spread will launch exclusively in Sainsbury’s in December priced at £3 for a 130g tub.

Following its initial launch, it will be rolled out to further retailers nationwide from February 2022.

The company made the decision to offer a dairy-free version of its hugely popular cheese after it spotted a gap in the vegan cheese market “for speciality options”.

‘The delicious Boursin-inspired taste consumers know and love’

Inspired by the original Boursin recipe loved by so many, the new spread is made from sunflower oil and has an “intense garlic, fragrant parsley and chive” flavour.

If you’re worried that it won’t live up to the original, then fear not because according to the company it has the same familiar flavourings and herbs to give it the signature Boursin taste.

According to Boursin’s senior brand manager, Célina Leroyer,”Boursin Plant-Based delivers the delicious Boursin-inspired taste consumers know and love, without compromising on indulgence and delicious flavour”

Bel Group to launch more dairy-free cheeses

The exciting news comes after Boursin’s parent company, the Bel Group, announced the launch of vegan Babybels in the US.

The move to offer more vegan options is part of its mission to make healthier and more eco-friendly products that are easily accessible.

Bel Group is also planning on releasing more dairy-free cheeses with its other brands The Laughing Cow, Kiri, and Leerdammer in the near future.

“The Group’s ambition is to provide a plant-based offer for each one of its core brands. As of January 2021, Bel will launch “The Laughing Cow Blends” in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Germany, countries where The Laughing Cow is mainly consumed by adults and where there is strong potential among flexitarians.

“Three references with cheese, vegetables and spices will be offered,” Bel Group said in a statement.
