The Bury Black Pudding Company’s vegan black pudding is available in major supermarkets for the first time.
Get ready to step up your vegan fry up; black pudding from The Bury Black Pudding Company is launching from September in over 300 Asda stores.
The vegan black pudding first launched in 2017 but could only be found online and in independent outlets… until now that is!
This launch marks the black pudding’s first major supermarket listing.
Matthew McDermid, Brand & Marketing said: “We have seen the demand for our Vegetarian and Vegan Black Pudding increase significantly over the last 12-18 months and given Asda’s keen focus on plant-based options, it made sense for us to approach them with our meat free alternative.
“We have seen the market change since the pandemic – consumers have had more time to experiment with foods and re-examine what food products they are purchasing.
“Sales of vegan, vegetarian and plant-based food options are increasing each month with all supermarkets, so we are delighted to see our Vegetarian and Vegan Black Pudding available with a national retailer like Asda.”

Sustainable shopping with Asda
Asda has been a major player in plant-based and sustainable food shopping with the launch of dedicated vegan aisles in selected stores and the trial of an eco-friendly sustainability store.
Earlier this year, Asda teamed up with vegan concept creator Kbox Global to trial the ‘Veelicious’ vegan butcher counter in Watford.
2021 will also see Asda release a massive range of plant-based Christmas products, giving hungry vegans options for festive canapés, food to go, centrepieces and sweet treats.
The range will include a Christmas cheeseboard, beefless wellington, and dark chocolate and blood orange cookies.
