This June marks the first Summer Vegan Pledge, organised by national animal rights group, Animal Aid.
Every year, Animal Aid runs a vegan challenge or pledge initiative to encourage those who are not vegan to give it a try. The Summer Vegan Pledge is a 30-day vegan pledge that takes place in June.
It is free to sign up and participants will get all of the help and advice that they need to stay vegan throughout the month, including:
- A free welcome pack full of recipes, advice about nutrition, tips on shopping and more.
- Regular updates throughout the month to keep you motivated and informed.
- Access to exclusive social media channels for sharing tips and advice.
- Details about vegan events and special offers.
- One-to-one help if you need it.

Animal Aid’s undercover investigations have found abhorrent abuse and neglect in farms and slaughterhouses – even in those which are considered ‘high welfare’. As well as this, animal farming is one of the biggest causes of greenhouse gas emissions – exceeding those of all motorised transport combined. In addition, research shows that vegans, on average, have lower incidence of diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer.
