Leading online vegan supermarket TheVeganKind.com has just moved to a huge new warehouse to keep up with demand after sales boomed amid lockdown.
With consumers increasingly interest in meat-free diets and vegan products, TheVeganKind.com has trebled their floor space at its new 35,000sqft premises in Glasgow, including what they believe is the biggest fridge in the world dedicated solely to retailing vegan goods.
Since March, TheVeganKind has shipped over 70,000 orders across the UK, and will be able to stock up to 100,000 chilled vegan products at any one time in the fridge alone at the new warehouse which is over eleven times larger than its previous location.

This is not the first time the company has been forced to move to a larger location to keep up with demand as they previously moved to a 3,000sqft warehouse in 2018.
Lockdown sales
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, co-founder Scott McCulloch said that lockdown and the pandemic had sent sales at the online supermarket skyrocketing. He said: “Like most companies around the UK, there was no way we could have predicted the impact that Covid-19 was going to have on our business. But fortunately for us, it’s allowed us to grow much quicker than we ever thought possible.
“We didn’t plan on moving warehouse again so quickly after our last move, but after forecasting the festive period, we quickly realised that the business couldn’t have coped with any more increased demand in its current premises.
New jobs
Unemployment is at an all-time high at the moment, but the company is pleased to have been able to create 21 new jobs through the move including 8 full time and 8 part time warehouse contracts, 3 additional customer service staff, a Creative Content Designer and a Financial Director position.
McCulloch added that he hoped the new premises would enable the company to keep up with the demand and is pleased that the company has been able to offer new job opportunities in the local area.
“The new warehouse is huge and will allow us to process so many more orders. We don’t plan on moving now for the next five years at least – but never say never!,” he added.
“It’s been all hands on deck and the entire team have been working tirelessly to pack orders, move sites, and launch our new recipe site, all whilst prioritising the health and safety restrictions brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic.
“We’ve been busy to say the least, and amongst all of this we’re really happy to have been able to create 21 new jobs in Glasgow.”
Ready meals
The new warehouse is not the only exciting new venture for the company as over the next 12-24 months, TheVeganKind team are planning on having a brand refresh as well as launching their own range of vegan ready meals.
