Ethique, which claims to be the world’s first zero-waste beauty brand, is launching in the UK for the first time at all 840 Holland & Barrett stores.
Ethique, which claims to be the world’s first zero-waste beauty brand, has announced its products will soon be available to purchase in the UK for the first time at all 840 Holland & Barrett stores.
Ethique is currently the only beauty brand in the world that’s solely dedicated to producing solid zero-waste beauty bars in the place of plastic-packaged, liquid beauty products such as soap and shampoo, unlike similar brands such as Lush who still opt for recycled plastic packaging for a number of products.
Palm-oil free
Ethique by name and ethical by nature, Ethique only create products that are cruelty-free and vegan using ingredients that are 100% sustainably sourced and fair trade.
None of Ethique’s products contain palm-oil sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate or parabens, which sets them apart from other well-known competitors who still use parabens and SLS in products.
Sustainable
The brand is on a mission to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, and by 2020, it is projected to save 10 million plastic bottles from manufacture and landfill.
In fact, to date, the company has saved over 3.3 million plastic bottles from manufacture with its range of handmade products. Even the sleeves Ethique’s products arrive in are 100% compostable and recyclable meaning zero consumer waste.
The handmade product range includes items such as concentrated face, hair and body products, which last up to 5 times longer than their traditional bottled counterparts meaning you get more for your money and don’t need to replace products as often.
Give up the bottle
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, founder and CEO of Ethique, Brianne West, said: “We’re thrilled that a full-range of zero-waste beauty products will now be available on the nation’s high streets at Holland & Barrett stores, helping British consumers give up the bottle.
“Despite our best intentions as consumers, just 9% of plastic is recycled worldwide, with the rest piling up in landfills or making its way into our oceans. By creating solid bars of beauty products without the water that makes up to 90% of a traditional liquid product, we hope to help combat the plastic pollution problem by providing consumers with a zero-waste alternative. After all, there’s water in your shower – why would you need more in your shampoo?”
A spokesperson for Holland & Barrett spokesperson added: “We’re delighted to be the first British retailer to offer Ethique’s beauty bar range, bringing a full-range of sustainably-sourced, vegan and zero-waste beauty products to British high streets nationwide for the first time.”
Ethique will launch in all 840 Holland & Barrett stores on July 15th.
