Events have escalated quickly in Ukraine and its people are showing extraordinary inspiring and courageous resistance.
The Vegan Food & Living team is pledging its humanitarian support for the people affected by this conflict.
Our TV screens bear witness to the appalling suffering being inflicted on ordinary citizens, and we might feel powerless to help. But what we can do is use our fortunate position to help those that really need us right now.
The best way that we can help is to donate money to the incredible charities helping those directly affected.
Donate to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal
Our parent company, Anthem, has launched our appeal by donating £10,000 to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
Plus, it has pledged to make an ongoing donation of 5% of its monthly profits to the appeal throughout all of 2022.
Now we’re calling on our Vegan Food & Living audience to join us in supporting the appeal.
The charity has been chosen as one that directly supports the people displaced by the fighting as well as helping host countries cope with the influx of refugees, currently estimated to be over 700,000 but potentially rising as high as 4 million.
What can you do to help Ukraine?
While we often encourage you to use your love of vegan food to cook for others to show them what they’re missing, this time how about putting your passion for food to good use and joining the #CookForUkraine campaign?
Foodies across the UK are hosting dinner parties, work lunches and cookalongs to cook up a Ukrainian feast and raise money at the same. Everyone brings a dish, everyone makes a donation – it’s that simple.
Or you could try another fundraising activity such as a bake sale, or simply just donate directly to make a difference.
We know times are becoming tougher financially for many at the moment, but we urge you to give what you can to support Ukraine and its people.
