Cupcake lovers rejoice because Starbucks has announced they are adding vegan cupcakes to its menu in a number of select stores throughout South Florida.

Starbucks add vegan cupcake to their menu

From 16 October, Starbucks will be offering customers the chance to get their hands on delicious vegan passionfruit cupcakes topped with vanilla icing created by Miami-based vegan bakery Bunnie Cakes.

A Starbucks representative commented that the company is “ecstatic” and the cupcakes are “amazing” about the new addition to the menu.

100% vegan and gluten-free

“The treats are 100% vegan and gluten-free, and the addition is huge news given that it’s Starbucks’ first offering of an allergy (and animal!) friendly dessert option,” says Latest Vegan News.

The owner of award-winning Bunnie Cakes, Mariana Cortez said in a comment to LVN:

“I have to pinch myself to believe it, I am extremely happy and proud of this accomplishment, we were chosen to be the only local partner among many other regular bakeries and desserts,”

“This proves to me that we are changing the way we see things, the way we eat. Years ago I couldn’t find a vegan cake for my son in Miami, today we are partnering with one the biggest business in the U.S., a dream come true.”

The vegan cupcakes retail at $2.50 and are available from the following locations:

  • NW 27th Avenue and NW 191th St
  • 11715-52 Curtiss Pkwy
  • 13940-5711 NW 7th St
  • 17086-1690 NE Miami Gardens Drive
  • NW 27th Avenue and NW 191th St
  • 21315-NW 41st St & NW 114th Ave
  • 27734-NW 36th St & NW 72nd Ave
  • 27975-7433 Miami Lakes Dr.
  • 7964-95th St & 2nd Ave
  • 8306-Doral Plaza
  • 8507-6320 Biscayne Blvd
  • 8647-8012 NW 154th St
  • 8868-8th Ave & 49th St

For those of us who don’t live in Florida it looks like we’ll have to wait a while longer before we see the cupcakes appearing in stores near us. However, as Starbucks has been making great strides in recent months to add more vegan options to the menu, we could be seeing more dessert options appearing very soon…
