Shake Shack has debuted a new range of plant-based options in all of its 206 stores across the US.
The popular burger joint has partnered with The Not Company (NotCo) to release a dairy-free chocolate milkshake and chocolate custard.
They’re priced at $6.39 and $4.69, respectively, and are said to closely mimic the taste of dairy.

Both sweet treats are made using NotCo’s ‘NotMilk’ – which uses an artificial intelligence programme named Giuseppe.
The AI system ‘analyses the structure of an animal-based food at its molecular level and replicates it using plant-based ingredients’.
“Partnering up with Shake Shack used to be a dream of mine and one of the most ambitious milestones for NotCo,” CEO Matias Muchnick said.
“Having a tailored NotCo product in Shake Shack stores nationwide is a clear statement of our ability to create elevated tailored-made delicious and profitable versions of products in record time that appeal to the mass market.”

The chain has also added a meat-free burger to its menu, priced at $8.29.
The veggie burger’s patty is made from mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, and quinoa.
However, unfortunately, it has to be ordered without cheese, sauce, and the bun to be suitable for vegans.
