Sainsbury’s supermarket has unveiled its food-to-order options and it includes some mouth-watering new vegan options.
Take the stress of our cooking this Christmas with Sainsbury’s food-to-order menu that includes a whole host of deliciously tempting vegan options.
Pig in blankets are a staple at Christmas, and keen to ensure that no one misses out on this traditional festive fare, the supermarket is offering a selection of 10 vibrant and peppery vegan mushroom sausages wrapped in vegan bacon (£5.50) as well as 12 mushroom stuffing balls with sage, lightly seasoned with cracked black pepper that are perfect for nibbling on at parties or as a side dish.
For the main event, tuck into the Taste the Difference Vegan No Beef Wellington (£7), a parcel that any vegan would be happy to receive featuring succulent mushroom, parsnip and seitan loaf layered with tender spinach leaf and a rich mushroom, porcini and port wine duxelles crisp and golden puff pastry.
Offering something a little bit different, the supermarket has also created a vegan lentil, cranberry and almond melt in the middle pudding (£8). Packed with lentils, onions, cranberries, apricots and almonds, the savoury pudding has a hidden centre filled with a vegan cheese sauce. Finish off by pouring over the deliciously sticky and sweet cranberry and redcurrant glaze for a true showstopper!
Who says wreaths are just for doors? Impress all of your guests with Sainsbury’s showstopping Jewelled Root Vegetable Wreath with mixed berry sauce (£7.50).
Studded with sweet cranberries, pomegranate seeds and crunchy pumpkin seeds on a wreath of chunky butternut squash, sweet potato and chestnut and finished with a delicious drizzle of the sweet berry glaze, this is as flavoursome as it is beautiful.
Last but by no means least is the Three Nut & Mushroom Roast with Redcurrant & Port Gravy (£5), a delicious alternative to the traditional turkey roast with crunchy cashews, almonds, pistachios, mushrooms and butternut squash.
Sainsbury’s Food to Order is now live and available to order online with food deliveries available for 22, 23 and 24th of December.
Vegan Christmas supermarket ranges
Waitrose supermarket has also released details of its impressive range of brand new vegan products launching this festive season to ensure everyone has a delicious Christmas. Customers can tuck into a huge range of tempting dishes such as the Vegan Festive Ring, Apple & Cranberry Bangers and Root En Croute.
Tesco shoppers will find vegan ‘pigs in blankets, an impressive Butternut Squash, Mushroom, and Chestnut Wreath, Carrot & Thyme Tarte Tatin and a Sweet Potato & Red Cabbage Christmas Log. There’s also a selection of desserts – if you’ve got room that is!
Asda and Aldi have also been getting in the Christmas spirit early delicious dishes such as Wellingtons and a very tempting looking chocolate swirl dessert!
