This January sees the launch of seven exciting new plant-based products from Sainsbury’s, including pulled jackfruit, mince, and burgers.

Pulled Jackfruit

A UK supermarket first, the new by Sainsbury’s Sweet & Smokey BBQ Pulled Jackfruit is super satisfying when stuffed in a taco, or shredded over the top of a burger.

Hailed as a Google Trend rising star in 2016, the unusual, but versatile, fruit tastes like a cross between a pineapple and a pear and its ability to imitate pulled pork is extraordinary.

Mushroom Mince

If you’re looking for a vegan mince to add to your chillis and bologneses then look no further than the new by Sainsbury’s Mushroom Mince, a lighter alternative to traditional meat mince.

In a bid to tackle food waste, the supermarket has made the mince using ‘ugly’ mushrooms, helping to tackle food waste.

Please note that the range also includes burgers, cauliflower steaks and sausages which contain egg and dairy, and are not suitable for vegans.

The new range launches in-store and online from 1st January 2018 and can be found in the vegetable aisle. The range is available in 500 stores nationwide, and can also be purchased online.
