There’s nothing like a warm, flaky pastry with a cup of tea to make your breakfast time feel like a real treat, and now Sainsbury’s supermarket is selling two brand new vegan products that are perfect for brunch.

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Sainsbury’s supermarket was adding an exciting new selection of products to its shelves this January, including seitan bacon and five plant-based pizzas, the supermarket chain has launched two brand new products in stores – vegan croissants and pain au chocolat.

Priced at £2.50 for 6, the plant-based pastries from French company La Boulangère are an affordable sweet treat for those who want to treat themselves with traditional French-style croissants and pains au chocolat without compromising on their beliefs and lifestyle choices.

Look what hit the shelves of @sainsburys !! New vegan croissants, both chocolate and plain. These may not be your freshly baked, flaky croissants you see in your local cafe but they really hit the spot. An easy and quick breakfast or just a simple snack. They taste just like brioche! The only thing I found unnecessary was the excess packaging, each croissant is individually wrapped in plastic 🙄 • • #vegan #animalrights #veganlife #veganlove #vegangirl #veganfortheanimals #veggie #animals #veganuary #veganuk #animals #dream #100%vegan #blogger #loveanimals #vegansofldn #sainsburys #freefrom #london #veganbreakfast #vegansainsburys #painauchocolat #vegancroissant #2019 #veganuary #veganrecipe @accidentallyveganuk @vegan_food_uk

La Boulangère has ensured the ingredients in the products are ethically sourced and have used shea butter in place of palm-oil to create the light and flaky bakes as part of its continued promise to providing an ethical product whilst preserving the authentic and traditional French taste.

Speaking about the decision to make the products palm-oil free, Frédérique Fillon-Soullard, head of marketing group of La Boulangère, said: “A long period of research and development was carried out on these two emblematic Viennese pastry products in order to achieve the right balance of recipes. Recipes based on vegetable oil mainly made of shea butter that allows us to offer 100% vegetable products, without compromising on the pleasure of taste.”

According to La Boulangère: “We’re living in an exciting era where health, climate change and animal welfare are key drivers for a growing community embracing a plant-based lifestyle. This is why we’re proud to introduce our vegan alternative to your breakfast, lunch or on-the-go needs.”

La Boulangère’s vegan croissants and pain au chocolate are available to purchase at Sainsbury’s.
