Quorn is branching out into the children’s market with its new product ‘Roarsomes’ – dinosaur-shaped chicken-style nuggets.

The new vegan Quorn product, which is reminiscent of childhood favourite turkey dinosaurs, is made from the brand’s signature mycoprotein base and coated in crunchy breadcrumbs.

The brand is apparently responding to a perceived gap in the market after research from Kantar revealed that more than half of 7-15-year-olds ate nuggets every fortnight.

Quorn said that there was a distinct lack of meat-free options for these convenience meals and therefore the brand decided to launch Roarsomes to counter this.

Moreover, research conducted by YouGov last year determined that young people were driving the rise of plant-based diets, and were more concerned about the environment.

Therefore, the launch of Roarsomes will be part of Quorn’s ongoing ‘Helping the planet one bite at a time’ campaign which began in January.

‘An early and delicious transition into meat-free’

Speaking to The Grocer, marketing director at Quorn Gill Riley explained:

“Now is the time that everyone needs to do their bit towards protecting the environment, and reducing meat in our diets is one of the best and easiest ways we can all help.

“Roarsomes provide families with a tasty and fun way to engage children at mealtimes, making an early and delicious transition into meat-free. This can be carried through younger consumers’ diets, as they grow older and learn more about sustainable eating.”

Quorn Roarsomes will be launching into Iceland next week at an RRP of £2.20, with more retailers to follow in May.
