High-street Italian restaurant chain Pizza Express is celebrating the start of autumn with two comforting new vegan dishes.

Popular pizza chain Pizza Express has announced the launch of its autumn menu for 2019, launching in restaurants across the UK today, and it contains the long-awaited vegan calzone.

The Calzone Verdure is filled with roasted peppers, aubergine and courgette with spinach, smoky tomato harissa, hot chilli, tomato with garlic, topped with rosemary. This parcel of deliciousness comes served with salad and balsamic dressing.

In 2017, Pizza Express joined the likes of Zizzi’s in offering vegan cheese on pizzas when they added a vegan mozzarella alternative on the menu. Made in Italy using Italian ingredients, Pizza Express say it melts perfectly in their pizza oven and gives a creamy finish to any recipe.

Joining the menu this autumn is a brand new starter in the form of a Creamy Baked Garlic Mushroom filled with the vegan cheese. The flavoursome starter involves a whole Portobello mushroom stuffed with garlic and vegan mozzarella and is flavoured with rosemary and smoky tomato harissa served with rocket, pine kernels and balsamic dressing. The good news is this is also suitable for those following a gluten-free diet.

There’s good news for those who enjoyed the chain’s new dessert from its summer menu as the Chocolate & Amaretto Parfait (a creamy chocolate and amaretto parfait on a crumbly biscuit base and topped with chocolate shavings) is here to stay.
