High-street Italian restaurant chain Pizza Express has added more delicious vegan options to its Spring menu.
After mid-year figures revealed last year that high-street Italian pizza chain Pizza Express’ free-from pizzas were outselling its classic ones, and that sales of the award-winning Vegan Giardiniera had increased by 36%, the company has been on a mission to increase the amount of meat-free options on offer.
This Spring, the company has added two tasty new options to the menu: a Mezza pizza and Rosemary & Garlic Flatbread with Houmous for starters.
Inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, the Mezze pizza features chargrilled aubergine, spicy tomato harissa, rocket, garlic oil, jalapeño, roquito peppers and creamy houmous.
Announcing the news on its website, the company wrote: “Make date night a great night with our spring pizzas. Which will you choose? We’ll be saying “well hello” to a new vegan pizza – the Vegan Mezze – a delicious combination of chargrilled aubergine, spicy harissa and creamy houmous.”
According to an Instagram post shared by the company, the new starter might just be more delicious than the company’s famous dough balls.
In the post, Pizza Express stated: “Big news…..we have houmous on our menu. Rosemary & Garlic Flatbread with Houmous. This could be the starter that takes on and defeats our Dough Balls and garlic butter!”
