Another day, another super exciting new launch for Veganuary as Philadelphia has launched its first vegan soft cheese alternative!

According to Mondelez, the new Philadelphia vegan cream cheese is made from a “unique” combination of oats and almonds to create a “delicious and creamy spread, as good as the Original”.

In fact, the recipe took two years to perfect with the recipe put through rigorous testing to ensure it delivered the familiar taste and texture as the rest of the Philadelphia range.

As well as branching out into the world of dairy-free alternatives, the brand is also focused on becoming more sustainable.

Therefore, Philadelphia Plant Based will be launched in the brand’s 100% recyclable packaging, before switching to recycled plastic in 2022.

The plant-based soft cheese is available to buy now exclusively at 699 Tesco stores and online priced, priced at £2.50 for a 150g tub.

‘Appetite for plant-based alternatives’

In a statement, Louise Stigant, UK managing director of Mondelēz International said: “With over half a million people taking part in this year’s Veganuary, the appetite for plant-based alternatives has never been more apparent.

“We’ve worked hard to make sure new Philadelphia Plant Based really delivers the same great taste and creaminess that people love and expect from Philadelphia and we’re delighted that there’s now a Philadelphia product for everyone – not a bagel or slice of toasted sourdough ever needs to go without again!”
