Budding entrepreneur Omari McQueen boasts the title of the youngest award-winning vegan chef in the UK, as well as the CEO and founder of vegan restaurant Dipalicious.

Now the creative cook is making it easy for everyone to enjoy his food as he has just announced the launch of his very first vegan cookbook – Omari McQueen’s Best Bites Cookbook.

The book, which will feature 30 easy-to-make plant-based recipes, will be published by media brand Scholastic UK and will be released in January 2021.

According to Omari’s mother Leah McQueen, Omari was inspired to go vegan aged 8 after learning about the suffering farmed animals face for our food.

She said that he decided that “he would never let an animal hurt for him again” after conducting his own research into the industries.

Speaking in a recent mini-documentary about why he is so passionate about promoting plant-based diets, he said: “I don’t want animals to die or be eaten so I teach people my age to be vegan.”

Taking to Instagram to reveal the news, McQueen wrote: “I am so excited to announce that my first published book will be out in January. I would like to thank everyone for all your love, support, and encouragement.

“I would also like to say thank you to the one and only @oscarjansonsmith. You have had my back for years, you believed in me from the beginning and @krugercowne @scholastic_uk for giving me a chance to share my passion to the world. The cupcakes did it for me.

“Mummy and Daddy, you’re the best a boy like me could have. Thank you to my siblings and family for being you – perfect.”

Speaking about the new cookbook, Scholastic UK Publishing Manager Leah James said. “Omari McQueen is inspirational. At just 12 years old, he has achieved so much. His passion for food and cooking is irresistible.

“Children everywhere have been busy learning to cook during lockdown; we can’t wait for Omari to share his recipes, tips, and enthusiasm with a generation of children and their families. Omari is leading a new generation of ethical minded foodies into a more sustainable future.”

Omari McQueen’s Best Bites Cookbook will be released in January 2021.
