Budding entrepreneur Omari McQueen has many strings to his bow with prestigious awards, a restaurant, a line of dips and snacks, and a cookbook already under his belt at just 12 years-old.

Now Omari, who boasts the title of the youngest award-winning vegan chef in the UK, has just been given his own CBBC show where he will be showing children how to cook delicious vegan meals.

Omari will make his debut on the BBC’s children channel this Sunday, with his brand new vegan cookery show, ‘What’s Cooking Omari?’, which is aimed at children aged between 7 and 16.

Each episode will be seven minutes long and will air every Sunday at 9.30 in the morning to inspire the next generation to ditch meat and get creative in the kitchen cooking up simple but delicious plant-based meals.

The show will showcase healthy, simple recipes that children can make such as ‘Omari’s Banana Shake Breakfast Shaky Shake Shake’ which will feature in the first episode.

The talented young chef is a natural choice to present the show with his bubbly personality, infectious energy and confident presence on screen which he has honed through his YouTube channel, Omari Goes Wild, where he shares videos for budding young cooks to over 3,000 subscribers.

Omari is not the only member of the McQueen family who will be appearing on the show as he will be joined by his older brother Laquarn in the first episode and will be whipping up a scrumptious plum blackberry crumble as a birthday surprise for his mother in episode two.

Keen to show that vegan food is anything but bland and boring, Omari will also be showing viewers how to make incredible mega-loaded spicy fries which are ‘the perfect snack to give the family all the energy they need to outwit one another during their game of mega hide-and-seek’ according to the CBBC website.

Announcing the exciting new show, a BBC statement said: “He’s only 12 years old but has already won the hearts of hundreds and thousands online, cooking up a storm with his delicious vegan food.

“In his first-ever TV commission, Omari introduces us to his effervescent siblings, who join him in the kitchen to create a wonderful array of delicious healthy meals for all the family to enjoy.”

More and more parents are choosing to raise their children vegan than ever before.
