A Norwich hotel is serving up a magical treat for vegans – an all-vegan Harry Potter themed afternoon tea complete with chocolate wands and Sorting Hat cakes.
Harry Potter fans will go wild for the new School of Magic Afternoon Tea at the Assembly House Hotel in Norwich. The hotel, a finalist for Norfolk’s Best Afternoon Tea Award last year, will offer chocolate wands, sugar hats and a drink of ‘liquid luck’ in their magical menu.
To begin with, diners will be sorted into their Hogwarts houses by biting into a delicious chocolate-dipped cake, topped with a sugar Sorting Hat. Inside their cake they will find colourful treats directing them to a certain house.
Once the guests have been sorted, they will be able to choose from a number of sandwiches and pastries.
The vegan sweet treats on the menu will include Glittered Shortbread, Exploding Lemonade Sherbet Cake, Dudley’s Knickerbocker Glory (a glass filled with chocolate syrup, strawberry compote, vegan vanilla coconut cream and scattered with lemon sherbet, freeze-dried raspberries and popping candy) and Fruit Scones with sparkly strawberry jam.
As for the savoury options, diners will choose from finger sandwiches such as roasted aubergine and carrot, cucumber and tomato, avocado and chilli toast and hummus and black olive.
The afternoon tea costs £20.95 for one or £40 for two. A smaller Mini Wizards’ School of Magic Afternoon Tea is available for children under 12 and features The Boy Wizard’s Gateau Opera, The Wizard’s Choosing Hat, Dudley’s Knickerbocker Glory and a Magical Wand, plus a scone and a sandwich for £12.95.
You can try the School of Magic Afternoon Tea for yourself between August 3rd and September 5th, 2018. Diners wishing to choose the vegan menu will need to call ahead. Make sure to reserve your spot well in advance, and bring along your Harry Potter costumes if you want a fully immersive experience!
