Plant-based and packed with protein, the four new flavours of vegan hummus ice cream take dessert-flavoured hummus to a whole new level!
The Hummus & Pita Co.—which already has three New York City locations and is expanding to Connecticut, Colorado, New Jersey, Michigan, and California—saw so much success when it launched a hummus milkshake shake that it has decided to take things to the next level with the release of four flavors of vegan ice cream.
The new frozen treat is made from chickpeas, tahini and natural sweeteners. Almond milk and coconut cream provide the trademark creamy texture, while ripe dates give the dessert its delicious sweetness. It is currently available in four different flavours: chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream and banana almond.
The ice cream will join a wide range of dessert-flavoured hummus products from the company, such as cookie dough hummus, cake batter hummus and the famous hummus shake.
Company founder Dave Pesso said in a press release: “This all started when I developed the dessert hummus as a healthier alternative for my daughter, and the response from my family was so great that we wanted to share it with the Hummus & Pitta Co. guests.”
At the moment, the vegan ice cream is only being sold at The Hummus and Pitta Co.’s Manhattan location, but there are plans to offer it at all of their shops from August 1st. Not long to wait!
