Morrisons supermarket has just unveiled its latest plant-based innovation - the first vegan pepperoni pizza to be sold in UK supermarkets

Pepperoni has ‘long been voted the UK’s favourite pizza topping’ according to Morrisons, and now the supermarket is making sure vegans don’t miss out on this popular topping as it launches a plant-based pepperoni pizza.
Morrisons ‘No Pepperoni’ Pizza (£2.50) features a crispy vegan dough based topped with plant-based cheese and a vegan pepperoni alternative.

In order to create vegan pepperoni just like the real deal with none of the meat, the supermarket has used a blend of pea protein and spices to mimic the meaty taste and texture.
‘Tastes just like the original’
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Leanne Cory, Morrisons’ Pizza Counter Buyer, said: “We have listened to the many customers who want more vegan options at our pizza counters and have worked hard to bring them their favourite toppings without compromising on flavour.
“The new Vegan ‘No Pepperoni’ Pizza offers a convincing meat-free alternative and tastes just like the original – you really won’t believe it until you’ve tried it.”
The Vegan ‘No Pepperoni’ Pizza is now available in the majority of Morrisons stores for £2.50 at Morrisons pizza counters.
