The Shrimps’ Hospitality Team are offering the option of a full vegan menu when Morecambe Football Club host vegan football club Forest Green Rovers this Saturday (17th February).
National League club Forest Green Rovers stopped selling meat at the grounds in 2011, and in the final step in the club chairman’s vision to turn the club vegan, cows milk was replaced with soya or oat milk to rid the Gloucestershire club’s menu of all animal products. The move is inspired by the club’s chairman, who is himself a vegan.
Chairman Dale Vince said: “The gap between vegetarian and vegan food is actually quite small; it’s a step rather than a leap to take. A lot of our food has been vegan for some time now, and this season we’ve taken the last small step.”
Vegan menu
In order to make their guests feel welcome at their grounds this weekend, Morecambe’s hospitality team have created a delicious vegan menu to ensure no one goes hungry on match day. Guests can tuck into Mediterranean vegetable kebabs with salad and spicy salsa for starters, whilst the main meal consists of a spicy bean pie with chips and mushy peas. To finish off the meal diners can indulge themselves with a chocolate brownie with vegan ice-cream.
