With sales of vegan and cruelty-free makeup are on the rise in the wider makeup industry, Lush Cosmetics felt it was time they upped their game again with the launch of a brand new range of plastic-free vegan lipsticks.

Announcing the launch of the huge new range of lipsticks, Lush stated: “A brand new makeup range is on its way! We’re starting all over again, with new ideas and developing new formulas. We will never compromise on our values and we will never stop believing in making fresh products that are good value, good for you and good for the planet.”

In order to reduce plastic waste, the lipsticks are sold in packaging made from 100% recycled materials which can be returned to your local Lush store to be reused and turned into the company’s plastic pots as part of their closed-loop system.

The company is not only giving customers the chance to purchase a brand new lipstick from a wide range of new shades they’re also offering refills of the lipsticks. Unfortunately, the refills can’t currently be used with lush’s existing lipstick packaging, but they will soon be releasing the finished design that will fit the refills.

Lush do not include plastic glitter (an environmentally-harmful substance made from reflective plastic) to give the lipsticks a hint of shine and instead synthetic mica, which is made in the Lush Lab, to make the products sparkle instead.

Lush have also used an innovative ingredient to ensure your lips are soft and hydrated – broccoli seed oil. Grown in Poland, broccoli seeds are cold-pressed to produce a flavourless oil that is rich in fatty acids, making it perfect for hydrating and conditioning lips.

The vegan lipstick collection is available online and at The Oxford Street and Birmingham stores now.
