Lewis Hamilton backed vegan burger chain Neat Burger has partnered with Deliveroo to deliver free vegan meals to NHS workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Vegan burger chain Neat Burger, which is backed by vegan Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton, has announced it will be giving away free meals to NHS workers on the frontline to show their appreciation and support for the incredible work they are doing.

Neat Burger is partnering with Deliveroo following Deliveroo’s announcement that it would be giving out 500,000 free meals to NHS staff after it received hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of donations from independent restaurant owners keen to do their bit to support the heroes on the frontline.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, the company wrote: “Deliveroo will be making 500,000 meals available to the NHS heroes working on the front line – for free! Neat Burger is beyond proud to be partnered in this incredible initiative.

“If you would like to get a free meal to a doctor or nurse, you can donate through the ‘Support your NHS’ fundraising page on the Deliveroo app or website.”

Whilst the majority of the free meals will be given to NHS workers in need of a hot meal, Deliveroo has also said that it will cater to vulnerable people during the pandemic.

“The nation needs the NHS like never before, and we must support every single colleague in the NHS,” said Health Secretary Matt Hancock

“I’m delighted that Deliveroo and partners are playing their part in this great national effort with half a million meals for the NHS. We can best come through this if we pull together.”

CEO and founder of Deliveroo Will Shu added: “Those in the NHS working night and day to save lives are the real heroes of this crisis, and we want to do our small part to support them and the vulnerable who aren’t able to leave their homes.

“Thanks to our dedicated riders, the generosity of our restaurant partners and their teams who are keeping kitchens open to serve those most in need, we hope to be able to make a difference.”

Neat Burger recently expanded its delivery area across London to include 8 new locations so hungry Londoners can get their vegan burger fix safe in the comfort of their own homes.
