Lenny Kravitz has shared the secrets behind his age-defying appearance which he attributes to eating a predominantly 'raw' vegan diet

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, legendary musician Lenny Kravitz, who has followed a mostly raw diet since 2016, revealed the foods he eats to stay in shape at 56.

Speaking to the publication, Kravitz said that he is “very careful about what I put into my body and how I take care of my body” and follows a strict raw vegan diet and physical training regime to help him stay fit and healthy for his stage performances.

“My best shape is not behind me. It’s in front of me right now. We keep moving that bar as we get older,” he told Men’s Health.

Kravitz also revealed exactly what his raw vegan diet entails by giving a peek inside his fridge.

“So here’s my fridge… What we have is green and more green: we’ve got cucumbers, mangoes, broccoli, kale, salad greens”, he said.

“Over here on the table, fresh from the farm, we’ve got breadfruit, soursop which is my favorite: soursop is so good for you, you should try it.”

Kravitz also gave fans a look inside his Airstream trailer where he stocks more of the fresh produce that makes up the majority of his diet, much of which he revealed he had picked himself that morning.

“A great blessing of living here in the Bahamas is that I get to grow my own food,” Kravitz added, “So I have a garden where most of this food comes from. As you can see, I’m vegan and primarily raw.”

The four-time Grammy winner has followed a meat-free diet for a number of years, previously telling Men’s Health in 2013 that he used to be a vegetarian, and had been one for “many, many years … like, 15 years.”

In more recent years, Kravitz has spoken about why he chooses to eat a plant-based diet stating that it’s “the right thing for yourself and for the planet and animals.”

Lenny Kravitz’s debut memoir, “Let Love Rule,” will be released on October 6
