Vegan restaurant CookDaily, which is well-known for its street-food inspired plant-based dishes, will soon open its first brick-and-mortar location.
If you have been to Boxpark in Shoreditch, chances are you’ve treated yourself to some of CookDaily’s delicious vegan street-food. However, you may have noticed that both of CookDaily’s Boxpark locations have now closed, a move that was kept a secret until just hours before the Shoreditch branch shut its doors for the final time. Thankfully, there’s a good reason why…
Owner Chef King has announced the eatery will be opening its first permanent restaurant and will return in January 2019 as a fully independent restaurant where customers can expect to find a mouth-watering array of dishes such as full English breakfast, green curry, vegan chicken and mushroom pie, pad thai, adobo, sweet and sour prawns, as well as a range of noodle dishes.
Speaking to BigHospitality, Chef King said: “No more street food, and no more shipping containers,” referring to the fact businesses in Boxpark operate out of refitted shipping containers.
King explained that while the new venue will stay true to CookDaily’s casual style, but it will be “a bit more refined,” allowing diners to sit and enjoy their meal in the restaurant. He added, “I need to take the next step, and I need to push the culture. It will be the biggest move of my career.”
Not only will the restaurant be serving food, the new business will also produce podcasts, create merchandise, and operate a radio station.
The location of the new eatery is still under wraps, but it will be in East London. But that’s not all as Chef King has “big plans for the future,” including the launch of “10 or 20 restaurants in high streets.” So keep your eyes peeled as you CookDaily may be coming to a city near you in the future…
