A high-tech vegan egg alternative is now available in thousands of retail and hospitality outlets across the US.

JUST Egg, which is created by food tech company Just, says it has seen a ’14 per cent increase year-over-year in the number of retail locations’ it is stocked in, according to recent Nielsen data.

In recent months, its pourable version has rolled out to an additional 1,000 Walmart outlets, with a further 1,000 of the stores adding its folded format to their shelves.

And last month, the folded format also launched in more than 800 Kroger stores, according to the brand.

The product, which is made from mung beans ‘which contain a protein that tastes and scrambles like eggs’, is described as the ‘leading plant-based egg brand’ by Just.

JUST Egg momentum

A statement published by the brand on its site said: “Building on our momentum in grocery aisles, we’ve brought on more than 1,500 new foodservice locations in North America this year to ensure plant-based eaters have tasty and climate-friendly options when dining out or on the go.

“Some new partners include Alaska Airlines, Barnes & Noble Café, 7-Eleven Canada, Next Level Burger, Colectivo Coffee and Proper Food, among others.

“And we’re not done yet – even more new foodservice and branded retail partners will be announced later this summer and fall.

“Stay tuned for those updates as we continue cementing JUST Egg’s place as the leading plant-based egg brand.”

Ever been asked the question ‘are eggs vegan?‘ This is exactly how to answer it.
