Chef Jamie Oliver has announced that his Italian restaurant chain, Jamie’s Italian, has just added a dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu in all Jamie’s Italians restaurants across the UK and overseas.
In celebration of National Vegetarian Week, chef Jamie Oliver has announced his Italian restaurant chain, Jamie’s Italian, will be adding a vegetarian and vegan menu in all Jamie’s Italians restaurants across the UK and overseas.
According to Jamie’s Italian restaurant page, the chef is keen to promote the benefits of a plant-based diet during National Vegetarian Week as he is a ‘massive fan of eating with the seasons, making the most of gorgeous fresh veggies and supporting Meat-Free Monday’.
“Jamie is passionate about how much good we can do for ourselves and the environment by cutting back the amount of meat we eat – so of course we wanted to support this brilliant initiative, too.”
Vegan menu
The new vegan menu is filled with Italian classics with a veggie twist, such as bruschettas, bold salads, veggie burgers, and plenty of pasta dishes such as bolognese, tagliatelle pomodoro and puttanesca with a tomato and garlic sauce. There’s also whole-roasted Sicilian-style cauliflower, as well as four kinds of pizza which can be made vegan be requesting that no cheese or veggie parmesan be added.
The wonderful world of veg
Whilst the National Vegetarian Week campaign is being run between the 14th – 20th May, the new plant-based menu is set to be a permanent fixture in all restaurants.
Not only has the chef developed a veggie menu in celebration of the event, he has also been hard at work developing a five-day vegetarian challenge.
Between the 14th – 20th May, participants who signed up online will receive daily email inspiration from the chef, which includes vegetarian and vegan recipes, videos, and tips on plant-based cooking to help them get to grips with new techniques.
Speaking about the challenge, Oliver said: “With this challenge, I want to inspire everyone – veggies and meat-lovers alike – to embrace the wonderful world of veg, every day!”
