TV chef Jamie Oliver is set to air a special vegan-themed episode of ‘Friday Night Feast’ which will feature exclusively vegan dishes in a bid to celebrate plant-based eating and encourage viewers to eat ‘less or no meat’.
Vegan parkour athlete Tim Shieff broke the news on Instagram, praising the ‘amazing smelling food’ he cooked with Jamie Oliver and confirming his presence in a ‘fully vegan episode’ of the show coming soon.
Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty have released a number of vegetarian and vegan recipes in the past – like the ‘Ultimate Veggie Lasagne’ and the ‘Brilliant Veggie Burger’ – but this will be the first time in the history of the ‘Friday Night Feast’ that an episode will be entirely devoted to vegan food.
Over the past year, Jamie Oliver has certainly focused on the promotion of meat-free and plant-based living. In May, he launched a dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu in all of his Italian restaurants and set up a five-day vegetarian challenge for National Vegetarian Week.
Speaking about his 5-day veggie challenge, Oliver said:
“With this challenge, I want to inspire everyone – veggies and meat-lovers alike – to embrace the wonderful world of veg, every day! Knowing how to make veg and fruit the stars of the show is such an exciting way to cook.
“Launching the challenge is also about connecting people in kitchens across the country on a veggie journey, sharing tips, reacting and discovering new things together – I can’t wait!”
“Eating more veg is always going to put you in a good place. It’s good for your wallet, good for the planet and it can be really good for your health.”
Speaking to Shieff on his YouTube channel ‘ifeeltruth’, Oliver explained that the upcoming vegan episode of ‘Friday Night Feast’ will get people ‘talking about the trends that are happening,’ with an aim to ‘take the global public on a stepping stones journey to eating more veg’ and ‘less or no meat’.
