High-street Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s has launched two new flakey vegan croissants with an authentic buttery taste for just £1.
Vegans can enjoy a delicious croissant with a flaky and buttery taste as Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s adds two new vegan croissants to the menu that are completely free from eggs, butter and milk.
The croissants will be freshly baked in-store from 14th August and are available for just one £1 until 21st August as part of an introductory offer, whilst stocks.
First up is the Croissant Vegano (£1.50), a vegan version of a traditional flakey croissant made from a traditional Italian fresh sourdough recipe to give it an authentic taste and light and airy texture. A sprinkling of cane sugar on top adds a delicious hint of caramel to the pastry.
Chocolate lovers will enjoy the Saccottini al Cioccolato (£2.40), the Italian relative of the Pain au chocolat, which comes filled with a deliciously rich and creamy hazelnut dark cocoa cream from Italian chocolatier Caffarel, with a sprinkling of edible gold sugar on top.
According to the company in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, a spokesperson said: “No need to sacrifice on taste as you can still enjoy that same cloud-like, flaky and buttery taste with these completely plant-based alternatives free from eggs, butter and milk.
“These new plant-based croissants from Carluccio’s are a welcome addition to a menu that already features a selection of new vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes to cater for all dietary requirements.”
Vegans can also find a new selection of milk alternatives on offer for hot drinks including soy, coconut and oat milk to provide the perfect non-dairy accompaniment to your vegan morning treat.
