High-street restaurant chain Bella Italia has joined the likes of Zizzi’s, Pizza Express and Ask Italian in offering customers the choice of adding vegan cheese to their pizza.
UK-based Bella Italia, a chain of restaurants serving Italian food, has debuted vegan cheese at its more than 100 locations throughout the UK to cater for the growing vegan market.
The vegan cheese will be available as part of the ‘create your own’ section of the menu, where diners can create their own pizza. The restaurant also has a number of vegan-friendly options on the menu, including a new Verde Burger made with cannellini beans, garlic and Mediterranean veg, Risotto Funghi, as well as salad, soup, bruschetta, and a starter of olives.
The Italian eatery has also added spiralised vegetables as an alternative to pasta for those who are looking for a lighter option to pasta.
Speaking about the decision to add vegan cheese to the menu, the Chief Operating Officer at Casual Dining Group, James Spragg, said: “Against a challenging market backdrop, we’ve had a very positive start to the year, as Italian food remains incredibly popular with UK diners.
“That said, we operate in a fast-paced industry, and innovation is imperative for success so we need to continually build on this momentum. This latest menu innovation reflects the rise in popularity of healthier alternatives and ethical choices, but also demonstrates our commitment to always listen to our customers, and the market, and our willingness to adapt.”
