Following on from the launch of its first vegan products in 2019, popular pie maker Higgidy has announced the launch of a new plant-based pastry joining its vibrant vegan range.
The flavoursome meat-free pie is perfect for spring dining as it combines the fresh flavours of broccoli, broad beans, kale and courgettes with a creamy pea purée and oat milk sauce, hand-topped with roasted cherry tomatoes and a ciabatta and pumpkin seed crumb all wrapped up in crisp vegan shortcrust pastry.
The tempting new pie will launch in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose on 20th May for £3.50 and £3.70 respectively.
Speaking about the launch in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Camilla Stephens, Higgidy Co-Founder, said: “Veganuary was a huge success for us this year, with the launch of our first vegan roll and new vegan pie and we’re continuing to see demand increase for plant-based recipes, especially as more and more people reduce the amount of meat in their diet and try new things.
“This season we wanted to give our customers another delicious, seasonal, vegan option that celebrates veg and makes for an easy, wholesome and great-tasting supper, which is why we’ve launched our new Spring Garden Vegetable Pie.”

The pie maker launched its first vegan products in late 2019 with the release of its take on vegan sausage rolls – Miso Mushroom Vegan Rolls. The plant-based rolls are filled with chestnut and porcini mushrooms, pearl barley and spring onion with miso and soy, wrapped in vegan puff pastry and topped with a crispy kale seaweed crumb.
With the launch of the new Spring Garden pie, Higgidy now boasts three vegan pies in its range, with the Vegan Aubergine & Spinach Masala Pie spiced with cumin, chilli and garam masala and the Creamy Mushroom and Kale pie with chestnut, portobello & porcini mushrooms, and kale cooked in a creamy oat milk & pearl barley sauce also on offer.
