Accessory brand Fossil is launching two new sustainable products this April, perfect for the environmentally-savvy shopper.
The launch is in celebration of Earth Day, which falls on the 22nd of April this year. Considering that we are rapidly running out of time to avoid climate disaster and the fashion industry is a major contributor, these new collections are a huge step in the right direction.
Cactus leather totes
The new vegan totes are made from cactus leather, which is rising in popularity at the moment. Available in four earthy colourways: moss, wine, black and brown, the collection is a subtle nod to the brand’s environmental commitments.
The cactus plants only require rainwater and Earth minerals to grow, saving 7.5 litres of water per tote.
Moreover, once the leaves are harvested to dry out, the cactus’ trunk is left intact to enable repeat harvesting and its leaves regenerate every 6-8 months. This makes the growing process sustainable and signifies a better way to create fashionable pieces.
The Kier Tote is available at Fossil now and is priced at £279.

A solar-powered watch
For the second new sustainable product, Fossil has combined functionality with environmentally friendly features.
The new LE Solar Watch can reach full charge after eight hours in the sun, and last for an astounding three months without needing a recharge.
Moreover, the new eco watch is packed with handy features such as a compass, stopwatch, alarm, timer and even a world clock so users can check the time in 49 cities across the globe.
The wriststraps are available in five colourful options, so you don’t have to sacrifice your personality or fashion tastes for sustainability.
The limited-edition watch will go on sale on the 22nd of April with a price tag of £149.
Pro-Planet progress
Both new collections tie in with Fossil’s Pro-Planet progress commitment.
This involves taking steps towards a greener future with promises such as:
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030
- Eliminating virgin plastics from the supply chain by 2030
- Making 100% of primary packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025
With targets such as these, Fossil is truly designing for the future, and we can’t see what the brand innovates next.
